What's New(s)?

Phoenix debut Sofia Coppola directed "Chloroform"

Phoenix's quietly insecure cut "Chloroform" was one of the unquestionable highlights of the French synth-rock band's fifth release Bankrupt!, and now the track has an accompanying video. Directed by Thomas Mars' wife Sofia Coppola, the video retains the late-night vibes of the album cut as Mars and company are bathed in shadows during a seemingly routine performance. Slowly the all-female audience is brought to tears, moved by the band's "cruel love" chorus and frantically attempting to grab hold before collapsing. Like the song itself nothing immediately grabs you, but after a few plays the evocative whispers waft into your brain.

Watch the video here and if you missed the band's "Trying to Be Cool" collabo with R. Kelly, you can right that wrong now by heading here.

M83 sountracks You and the Night

Reeling from his less than stellar experience working on the Oblivion soundtrack, electronic-pop experimenter Anthony Gonzalez of M83 will be soon be releasing his second  soundtrack of the year. a score to brother Yann Gonzalez's film You and the Night. Concerning a young couple's preparation for an orgy, the film is out tomorrow in France. For his part, Anthony promises "the soundtrack pays tribute to French soundtracks form the 70s and is much more intimate than Hurry Up, We're Dreaming and the Oblivion soundtrack. This score is really for lovers and ghosts".

The first offering from that "intimate" soundtrack is the softly strummed and wooden-flute riddled "Ali & Matthias" which uses reverberated vocals and precise mandolin picking to haunting effect. The soundtrack is out digitally November 19 through Mute/Naive and a physical is in the works for sometime next year.

JT expands tour dates

Before he's even finished this year's exhaustive run of tour dates, Justin Timberlake's already plotting a course for next year. In a further expansion of his massive 20/20 Experience tour, the pop megastar has announced U.S. and European tour dates that will occupy his time until August 2014 when he wraps up in San Jose. I can't even see ahead to a month from now, so credit to Timberlake for planning entire seasons ahead (maybe 20/20 vision isn't the only thing he has). Check out the expanded tour schedule below, along with the crowd-sourced video for the effortless strut of "Take Back the Night".
